While in Houston, Texas wrapping up a mini vacation, we (a group of friends) met at a local diner for a late lunch before we parted ways.  During the lunch, we started a discussion about the obvious differences between Texas and Mississippi.  The discussion started to get a little heated and we realized that we were all passionately concerned about certain issues (educational opportunities and personal finances), to name a couple.  The conversation was great and multiple viewpoints were brought to the table.  However, we decided that just talking was one of the biggest issues.  If we wanted to make a difference, we needed to actually put action behind our conversation.  Before we left the table that day, we vowed to form an organization that would make a difference in people's lives.  This vow birthed Generational Empowerment Organization, Inc.
